Bolting Rabbits at Griffin Lloyd Shooting Ground

In October the rabbits went to the Griffin Lloyd Ground near Ludlow. It's a brilliant setting where we were made to feel most welcome. We can heartily recommend this ground and look forward to a visit in the future.

As usual we split into two teams for the competition, these being the Kings and Queens. The names derive from a set of half crown coins used for the purpose of the draw.

The weekend was split into three sessions of one hundred birds each. Two sessions were shot on Saturday and the final session was concluded on Sunday morning.

The competition was, as usual, fierce with much good natured banter and sledging.

The Queens were a very strong outfit and there was some talk of sticky matter having been applied to the coins before the draw but this was unfounded and Steve Price, Max, Phil and Dave won the team competition in impressive style.

The Top Gun prize was won by Steve Price after a keenly fought contest with Max. It was a brilliant win by Steve especially as Max was wearing his magic glasses which enable him to see bits, which no-one else can detect, falling from the clays at which he shot.

On Saturday evening we dined well and hit the high spots of Knighton. The climax of the evening was a rendition of "Mustang Sally" by Steve Finney accompanying the resident singer in the pub.

Another brilliant weekend: roll on the Spring Shoot!

Tuesday, 13 April 2010

The Rabbits are at it again! Back to Brook Bank Shooting Ground for our Spring weekend. Once again we shot three hundred birds spread over Saturday and Sunday. Some excellent, (and not so excellent shooting), took place and good scores were posted. The top team this year were the Kings who narrowly beat the Queens. Top Gun with a score of 201 was Steve Price who was most consistent over the two days. He also took his not inconsiderable ability in winding up the opposition onto the pool table where he and his partners slaughtered all comers. Until, that is, the local hotshot got his personal cue from behind the bar and wiped the floor with him. He didn't even need to chalk his cue!!!
